It is part of the Southern Gas Corridor which transports natural gas from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p>The pipeline is <strong>approximately 877 kilometers long<\/strong>, most of which in Greek territory, and includes <strong>104 kilometers offshore in the Adriatic Sea<\/strong> &#8211; where it reaches a <strong>maximum depth of 820 meters<\/strong> &#8211; plus the last 8 kilometers in Italy, where it connects to the national gas distribution.<\/p>\n<p>The pipes have a <strong>diameter of 1.22 meters<\/strong> in the onshore section, with a pressure of 95 bar, and <strong>1.07 meters<\/strong> in the sea section, with a pressure of 145 bar, to transport approximately <strong>10 billion cubic meters<\/strong> <strong>natural gas a year<\/strong> when fully operational and cover the needs of 7 million families. fullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p>The pre-commissioning campaign of the 105 km of underwater pipeline between Albania and Italy was entrusted to <strong>Techfem<\/strong>, which requested PTC Italiana to supply an ultra-high pressure plant for <strong>pressure testing<\/strong> of the entire pipe line created.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-6\"><p>Testing carried out by pumping sea water inside the pipeline, filtered and treated with ultraviolet rays, at a <strong>pressure of 188 bar<\/strong>, to verify on site the total integrity of the pipeline and the state compliant with the design purpose.<\/p>\n<\/div><style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-3 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-right:0px;margin-bottom:0px;margin-left:0px;\"><h2 class=\"title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\"><h2><strong>Pressure testing<\/strong><\/h2><\/h2><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-\" style=\"border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span class=\" fusion-imageframe imageframe-none imageframe-1 hover-type-none\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" alt=\"pipe line testing 2 - ptc italiana\" title=\"IMG_20200109_133339\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-scaled.jpg\" class=\"img-responsive wp-image-11079\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-200x150.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-800x600.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-1200x900.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ptcitaliana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/IMG_20200109_133339-scaled.jpg 2560w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/span><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-7\"><p>What has been done with the pressurized water is to certify the <strong>absence of leaks<\/strong> that could cause dangerous gas leaks. It was therefore verified that there were no pressure drops during the long hours of testing.<\/p>\n<p>The ultra high pressure units were built and tested at the PTC headquarters in Rubiera, then delivered to Fano, at the Techfem headquarters which transported them to the Apulian coast, to the construction site of the consortium that built the pipeline, and directly from there they pushed the water all the way to Albania by crossing the bottom of the Adriatic Sea.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-8\"><p>To carry out the pressure test of the pipe line created, <strong>7 PTC 4 ultra high pressure units<\/strong> were therefore used, with maximum pressures of <strong>250 bar<\/strong> and a flow rate of <strong>300 liters per minute<\/strong> for each machine.<\/p>\n<p>The 7 units were <strong>mounted in parallel<\/strong>, in order to multiply the flow rate up to <strong>2100 liters per minute<\/strong> and be able to pressurize the pipeline <strong>over 100 kilometers long<\/strong> in the off-shore section, and reach the test pressure for a long period of time.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-9\"><p>The machines, in fact, operated continuously for about <strong>30 hours<\/strong>, until the necessary quantity of water was pumped into the pipeline and <strong>188 bar<\/strong> was reached. Once the test was completed, the water was let out again with high pressure; the pipeline was then desalinated using fresh water and then dried to preserve it until it was released into gas.<\/p>\n<\/div><style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-right:0px;margin-bottom:0px;margin-left:0px;\"><h2 class=\"title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\"><h2><strong>The units for the pipe line test<\/strong><\/h2><\/h2><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-\" style=\"border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-10\"><p>Those for the pipe line test are very special high pressure units, used only for testing the pipeline, but versatile and modular to be reused for these indispensable uses.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1
